Health Tips - Hemoglobinuria

Posted by Daniel Friday, February 26, 2010

This type of hemophiliac anemia is caused by repeated pounding of blood vessels usually in the hands or feet. The pounding causes red cells to smash apart and perish. In addition to a hemophiliac anemia, you may also develop iron-deficiency anemia from loss of blood in the urine. Treatment usually consists of finding a way to cushion the pounding (e.g. adding extra cushioning to shoes). Iron and fol ate supplements may also be prescribed to ensure that adequate numbers of healthy new red cells are produced.
