Spread of infection is airborne in diseases of the throat and respiratory tract, in meningeal meningitis and in many of the common infectious diseases of childhood.
The risks of infection can be reduced by the provision of ample fresh air, sunlight and institutions there must be an adequate distance between beds; dust should be removed by vacuum cleaner or damp mopping; bedclothes should be made of material which can be boiled.
